MAIN CITIES

NAPOLS THE CAPITAL

Naples, a reality out of the ordinary. Some good reasons to explore the city: art, music, shows, delicious dishes, secret places. The ideal spot for who searches for new stimuli and emotions. Naples is located halfway between two volcanic areas, the volcano Mount Vesuvius and the Phlegraean Fields. The city is noted for its rich history, art, culture and gastronomy and, in the modern day, the historic centre of the city is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

The metropolitan area of Naples is the second most populated in Italy and one of the largest in all of Europe with around 3.8 million people. The whole history of Naples is based on the concept of welcoming foreigners and of different cultures living side by side. The city's enviable geographical position half-way down the Italian coast makes it easy to reach from anywhere in the world. The wonderful historical, artistic and archaeological heritage is an intrinsic part of the city. At the same time, we mustn't forget its contemporary creative nature which ensures the city always has some new project on the go, some new goal, and plenty of new ideas. Naples is a city on the sea, a place full of light yet with dark, hidden foundations. It has a great cultural and artistic identity which is stamped on the brow of its many museums, castles, churches, squares, narrow streets and archaeological remains. It is a city in which culture, art and "light" mix with the obscure darkness of a hidden, submerged, underground world

CAMPI FLEGREI

A territory that has its roots in myth and that has conquered an important spot in history. The “land of the fire”, of which Homer and Virgil wrote about, is an enormous vulcanic area created by numerous craters among which the only one still active is the Solfatara. The other ones have had different life stories: the Averno crater is now a lake, Astroni and Monte Nuovo are now natural reserves, others lie on the sea floor. The magmatic activity still goes on though, as the fumaroles and the thermal hot springs, that stretch from Agnano to Baia, testify. Thermal baths are a tradition of the ancient Romans. Agnano was the first thermal baths area, then Pozzuoli and finally Baia, the most popular at Roman times. A day at the thermal baths Stufe di Nerone, a visit of the Castle and of the Archaeological Park of Baia is a worthful gift.

ISCHIA AND PROCIDA ISLANDS

The islands are very different, but have in common the vulcanic nature and the richness of the sea that embraces them. Procida is more misterious and frequented by niche tourism, not exclusively in the summer time. Ischia is larger and caotic, made of six little towns and able to satisfy different touristic demands: from trekking paths to scuba diving, from accomodations in the farms to night clubs on the sea. Procida has inspired many writers and has been the chosen spot for films such as “Il Postino”, Massimo Troisi’s last production. A place called terra Murata is the highest point in Procida and also the first urban nucleus. Marina di Corricella, punta Solchiaro, Chiaiolella beach, the natural reserve of Vivara are some of the many places to discover. Ischia is known for its thermal baths and is also called the green island for its luxuriance. The Aragonese Castle, the Chiesa del Soccorso in Forio, the Sant’Angelo village, the green tufa architectures of Serrara Fontana are only some of the many beautiful places there are to visit

CAPRI

The blue island, a prolongation of the Sorrentine Peninsula, has inspired writers, poets and directors that have chosen the island for their films. The combination of nature and culture, across a sea that varies from shades of blue to turquoise, make of Capri a destination not to miss.

SALERNO E LA COSTIERA

SORRENTO COAST

A place loved and chosen by the Romans to build their sumptuous villas where they can devote themselves to OTIUNM Destination of illustrious travelers since the eighteenth century: Wagner, Nietzsche, Dickens and Goethe chose it as a stage of their cultural journey and their pages have indelibly photographed their beauties. Antiquity and classicism, nature and gastronomic delights some of the reasons that have made the Sorrento peninsula one of the most visited places by the Grand Tour The Sorrento peninsula is a riot of colors and flavors, inlets and breathtaking scenery that dominate the sea. Multiple and diversified bathing facilities meet all needs.

AMALFI COAST

Positano is 36 kilometers of paradise away from Vietri sul Mare. Fourteen spots in total, each with its traditions and pecularities, worth visiting at least once in a lifetime. The places, immersed in a charming scenery, have in common a crystal blue sea, wild nature, maiolic dome churches and houses clunged to the rocks. The coast takes its name from Amalfi, since it is positioned in

the center, and due to the town’s historical role during the centuries. In the IX century the town, with the rest of the Marine Republics, influenced the Mediterranean’s future. The Dome with its Paradiso Cloister, the Basilica del Crocifisso and the precious Carta d’Amalfi are the main attractions of the place. The itinerary that starts from Positano with its narrow streets, the clothes

boutiques and the beaches, and that then passes through Furore’s Fjord, the Grotte dello Smeraldo at Conca dei Marini, the square in Atrani and the steps in Raito, without mentioning Ravello and the other pearls of the coast, is a continuous of emotions, a journey to discover

CILENTO COAST

From Paestum to Sapri, hundreds of kilometers of beaches, small creeks, secret caves. This is the Cilento Coast, one of the most beautiful and unpolluted coastal area of Italy. Small towns on mountain tops and gentle hills make this scenery unique. From the natural reserve of Punta Licosa, with its pine trees that seem to be diving in the sea, to the Natural Arch of Palinuro a natural monument carved from Mother Nature. A few steps away from the sea the ancient Saracene Towers and the archaeological site of Velia. The coastal towns, as well as the ones in the inland, host many shows and village feasts during the summer period where you can taste Cilento’s typical products

CASERTA AND THE ROYAL COURT

Visiting the Borbonic court, is like a tour of the seventeenth century Campania. Discover Caserta’s Royal Palace, the Italian Versailles, San Leucio and the Royal Site of Carditello. The Royal Palace and its gardens were the royal residence and the place of government during the reign first of Charles, then of Ferdinand the IV. The other two sites were popular for leisure activities such as hunting and promenading
